A contemporary house set within a pine forest on a steeply sloping site.

With an impressive level difference of nearly 9 metres, this contemporary garden unfolds among the existing pine trees as a sequence of terraces, each with its own function, atmosphere, and view.

The main challenge was the complex terrain. Rather than being concealed, it became a defining element of the composition. Wide stone steps follow the natural slope, leading to the individual levels and transforming movement through the garden into a gradual journey of discovery.

The preserved pine trees and large rock formations create the natural framework of the garden, connecting the new design with the existing landscape. Rhododendrons, hydrangeas, ornamental grasses, groundcovers, and several varieties of Japanese maple are woven between them, adding softness, colour, and seasonal variation.

Close to the house, the composition becomes more refined and architectural, combining stone, wood, and clearly defined areas for relaxation. As the garden moves away from the building, the lines gradually soften and the planting naturally merges with the surrounding forest.

The result is a contemporary garden where the nine-metre level difference is not a limitation, but the foundation for a rich sequence of levels, perspectives, and experiences — a balance between the architecture of the house and the natural character of the site.
